In July of 2011, Oinkari will be traveling to the Basque Country, the birthplace of our dances and culture. Trips to the Basque country are crucial for maintaining authenticity in our repetoire and forming and maintaining connections with native Basque dance groups. It will also be a chance to showcase what we have to offer in our unique place as American-Basques traveling back to the homeland.
Most members cannot pay for our tour out-of-pocket, so in January we embarked on a 6 month fundraising campaign. We will be putting on fundraising events, seeking sponsors, and canvassing local and regional businesses for tax-deductible auction items and prizes.
